📢 If you work in education or are a parent, I have a brief but important message for you.
Some of the problems encountered when working with a child or adolescent cannot be solved by words or by setting objectives.
Many problems (psychological, social, motivation, academic performance, etc.) can only be improved by a change in the child or adolescent’s environment.
This was Maria Montessori’s discovery.
🌍 The environment must stimulate the right activities in the child, responding to his or her deepest needs, and must not present obstacles to development.
đź—ş So, without going into detail here, think about your own living environment: your material, social, intellectual and spiritual environment.
Ask yourself about the activities and habits it calls for, and the difficulties it poses for you, and write them down on a piece of paper.
Ask yourself whether you can change any of the parameters. Make small changes and then observe your level of activity and well-being.
đź’ˇ You’ll then understand the importance of the environment in supporting children and adolescents.
Children and adolescents can’t build their own prepared environment – that’s the role of adults.
Trying to solve certain educational problems with words (or content) is like trying to bail out a leaky boat with comments.
Let’s better observe our environment and transform it!
I’ve attached a diagram of the four levels of the environment to help you question your environment.
“The question of adaptation to the environment is a fundamental one. It is important that everyone be as well adapted to the environment as possible. The behaviour of people who are not adapted to the environment will be flawed. If they are not adapted to society they will disturb the environment. ”
